Members' Art Show 2021

Everyone has a story to tell and we at the Thornhill Garden & Horticultural Society thought that June would be a great month to showcase our Members' art! We are a talented bunch.

The show team is taking submissions now with a maximum of up to 3 pieces submitted by each Member.

  • You're welcome to show your work in progress shots

  • Please include a short bio of yourself (maximum 100 words)

  • All types of mediums are accepted

  • Art Show viewing starts June 14th

Ellen Gay Ash

Ellen Gay Ash has been a member of the Thornhill Horticultural Society for over 30 years. She has also been a member of the Thornhill Village Artists and Toronto Potters where she has both exhibited and sold her artwork. 

In addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in languages from York University, Ellen also has a four year degree in art (painting and drawing) from the Ontario College of Art.

Her passions are her gardening and her artwork. When not working in her garden, Ellen paints her flowers in watercolours or on her pottery in her home studio.

Christine Nelson

Christine lives and works in Thornhill, has a post-secondary education in Fine Art, was an advertising Art Director, held membership in Hill Potters Guild, graduated from the inaugural York Region Arts Council Artrepreneur Program and has been Artist in Residence for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Christine combines experience with artistic abilities to create unique pieces with distinct messages that engage the viewer, often focusing on transformation and elevation: including oil painting, and Mixed Media Arts. 

Christine’s wearable art pieces have been performed in Niagara Artist Centre’s juried STRUTT shows, and had pieces performed in “Voix de Ville Extravagonzo”.

Harvey Ash

When he is not practising law, Harvey J. Ash spends his free time taking photographs of many diverse subjects - from flowers to portraits to sporting events, he is rarely without his camera. Harvey has been a member of the Richmond Hill Camera Club for approximately 10 years and the Canadian Association for Photographic Art for over 6 years. He has competed successfully in photography competitions both locally and across Canada.
